Overview

Bit-Error Rate Test/Measurement on an arbitrary high-speed serial link over a predefined period of time (good product validation).

Main task

Test of multi-gigabit serial links in production, quickly evaluate link quality (3-10 seconds)

Target interfaces

  • high-speed chip2chip/backplane connections
  • high-speed interfaces: PCIe, JESD204B, SDI, 10/40G Ethernet, USB3

Output:

  • Number of bit-errors detected during test
  • BER eye diagram that shows link quality assessment
